Wordle help: 3 tips for beating Wordle every day

Anyone can pick up and play Wordle, but if you want to do it well and make all of your guesses count, these quick tips will help get you started on your Wordle winning streak:

  • Choose an opener with a balanced mix of unique vowels and consonants.
  • The answer may contain the same letter, multiple times.
  • Try not to use guesses that contain letters you’ve already eliminated.

Thankfully, there’s no time limit beyond ensuring it’s done by midnight. So there’s no reason not to treat the game like a casual newspaper crossword and come back to it later if you’re coming up blank. Sometimes stepping away for a while means you can come back with a fresh perspective.

Learn more about Wordle

Wordle gives you six rows of five boxes each day, and you’ll need to work out which secret five-letter word is hiding inside them to keep up your winning streak.

You should start with a strong word like ARISE, or any other word that contains a good mix of common consonants and multiple vowels. You’ll also want to avoid starting words with repeating letters, as you’re wasting the chance to potentially eliminate or confirm an extra letter. Once you hit Enter, you’ll see which ones you’ve got right or wrong. If a box turns ⬛️, it means that letter isn’t in the secret word at all. 🟨 means the letter is in the word, but not in that position. 🟩 means you’ve got the right letter in the right spot.

You’ll want your next guess to compliment the first, using another “good” word to cover any common letters you might have missed last time while also trying to avoid any letter you now know for a fact isn’t present in today’s answer. After that, it’s simply a case of using what you’ve learned to narrow your guesses down to the correct word. You have six tries in total and can only use real words and don’t forget letters can repeat too (eg: BOOKS).

Originally, Wordle was dreamed up by software engineer Josh Wardle, as a surprise for his partner who loves word games. From there it spread to his family, and finally got released to the public. The word puzzle game has since inspired tons of games like Wordle, refocusing the daily gimmick around music or math or geography. It wasn’t long before Wordle became so popular it was sold to the New York Times for seven figures. Surely it’s only a matter of time before we all solely communicate in tricolor boxes.

Blizzard will inject a little WoW into Diablo 4- Vessel of Hatred with a new co-op dungeon and party finder-

Watch On

Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred is starting to look a lot like a budding MMO—or something closer to Destiny 2 at least—with the Dark Citadel, an endgame four-player co-op dungeon with weekly rewards.

Announced during an Xbox stream at Gamescom, the Dark Citadel is a multi-part dungeon with obstacles that require at least two players to clear. In the developer insights video, we saw characters opening doors for each other and taking turns reflecting attacks back at a boss. And just like in World of Warcraft, you’ll be able to mark enemies with symbols to coordinate with your team.

In classic MMO style, you’ll be rewarded with a cache of loot for completing the Dark Citadel every week. Each of its bosses will drop class-specific items and a unique currency you can use to buy cosmetics and consumables to buff your allies. All of this sounds like Diablo 4’s version of WoW’s raid tier sets and craftable potions, if you ask me.

If that wasn’t enough, Bliz…

Bots now account for half of global internet traffic and ‘bad bots’ nearly one third-

Chalk this up as further evidence of the impending demise of civilisation, along with the climate, large language models and the increasingly ubiquitous implementation of the Oxford comma. Now it’s being reported that very nearly half of all internet traffic is accounted for by bots.

That’s according to the 2024 Bad Bot Report by cybersecurity specialist Imperva, via SecurityBrief. The headline figure has bots representing 49.6% of all internet traffic. Arguably even worse is the 32% of all traffic associated with so called “bad bots.”

“Bots are one of the most pervasive and growing threats facing every industry. From simple web scraping to malicious account takeover, spam, and denial of service, bots negatively impact an organisation’s bottom line,” Nanhi Singh, General Manager, Application Security at Imperva, said, presumably with an apathetic, defeated sigh.

Imperva found that bad bot traffic varied fairly dramatically by geography. For instance, Ireland topped…

Skyrim mod adds AI voice acting for all the Dragonborn’s dialogue-

Aside from various grunts and dragonshouts, the Dragonborn is a silent protagonist. If that’s not your thing, Mathiew May’s Dragonborn Voice Over mod for Skyrim Special Edition will let you hear every dialogue line you select repeated out loud.

You can select from a handful of voice packs, each created with ElevenLabs AI. Skyrim’s protagonist has more than 7,000 lines of dialogue, so you can see why it’s easier to get an AI to generate dialogue than having someone sit down and record it. So far three voice packs are available, all based on women’s voices. As well as the default, other modders have contributed voice packs based on Wang Yuanji from Dynasty Warriors and the female Sith Inquisitor from Star Wars: The Old Republic.

May says this mod is a work in progress, with more voice packs to come as well as an update that will decrease the response time between player-character dialogue and non-player character responses. As you can see in the Dragonborn Voice Over showc…

Moonbreaker, the digital miniatures game from Subnautica developer Unknown Worlds, has released-

Super unique digital miniatures game Moonbreaker has launched out of early access and into 1.0 as of this week, releasing its skirmish combat and painting fun with a whole stack of updates, tweaks, and new features. The highlight for many is a new single-player experience, Boss Run Mode, that takes you through 10 rounds of battle on four new maps to unlock the game’s lore via big battles with nasty boss opponents.

Along with that came a few new commanders and twelve new crew units to take, as well as a healthy pile of new unique cosmetics and such to unlock in the continued rewards track for 1.0.

The 1.0 release also updated the painting aspect of Moonbreaker with a refreshed UI and new tools like stencils and masking liquids to let you paint up them little guys way better than before.

The three new captains to lead your crew all sound pretty interesting. Two fo them, Feng Huang and Saveri, specialize in solo combat. Feng Huang as a tougher, mobile expert in …

Sit back down, Tarnished- FromSoftware’s parent company has poured cold water on an imminent Elden Ring DLC release-

Despite a slew of curious Steam updates that have Elden Ring fans vibrating with anticipation for an imminent DLC release, FromSoftware’s parent company, Kadokawa, has stepped in to crush those dreams.

In an FAQ section from a recent financial report, the company gave an update about the development status of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC: “We are currently working hard on the development of DLC for Elden Ring but we have not announced a release date at this time.”

Sorry, Elden Ring DLC truthers—that doesn’t seem like the kind of thing you’d say if you were about to release an expansion on the RPG’s two-year anniversary in a few weeks as some fans have started to believe. It’s more likely the kind of statement you make to assure shareholders that development is going well. I wouldn’t expect to see the DLC until sometime in the company’s next fiscal year, which begins in April.

The report also notes that “various measures are currently in progress for…

Helldivers 2 and Star Wars collide in this amazing mod, due for release -later this week–

Helldivers 2 may not have any official modding support, but you simply cannot stop players putting weird stuff in your game. A couple of weeks ago, YouTuber and modder ToastedShoes dropped Master Chief, Buzz Lightyear, the TARDIS, and more into the war for a truly chaotic take on managed democracy. Now he’s showing off an impressive collision with the Star Wars universe.

Not only are the Helldivers themselves reskinned as clone soldiers (including fan favourites Rex, Cody, and Hunter), the Automatons have been recast as Separatist droids. Though the weapons and stratagems are unchanged, it’s surprising how well it all fits together for a convincing recreation of a Clone Wars battle. Finally, you can experience what it would be like to scrabble in the mud against horrific odds while the Jedi are off somewhere else messing about with their lightsabers.

You can’t try the full Helldivers 2 Star Wars mod for yourself just yet, but you don’t have long to wait—Toast…
